[Kate and Sonny enter.]
Sonny: Uh, we were not expecting a welcoming committee.
[Diane laughs]
Max: Hey, Mr. C., Mrs. Howard.
Diane: “Ms.” Howard.
Clarice: Kate, sorry. There is something you need to know about.

Kate: Does this important information affect the future of “Crimson”?
Clarice: Well, no — not exactly, but –
Kate: Does it affect the issue going to print?
Clarice: No, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t –
Kate: Ok, then. It can wait. As far as I’m concerned, I’m still on vacation. Now prove you’re savvy and know when to leave. I promise, Clarice, I’ll be all yours as soon as I get to the office.
[Sonny murmurs]
Diane: So –
[Chuckles]
Diane: How was the island?
Kate: Uh, it was lovely visiting a place that was so special to sonny.
Sonny: I let her win at the craps table.
Kate: You did not let me win. Don’t you dare change your story. Is that what you’re going to do?
Sonny: Yeah.
[Kate giggles]
Diane: [Whispering inaudibly]
Max: [Whispering inaudibly]
Diane: Ok, so, Sonny, there are a few business matters that we need to discuss.
Sonny: Diane, can you see that I’m busy.
Diane: I promise you just a moment of your time, and then you can get back to whatever –
Sonny: No, no. Not now.
Diane: In fact, Kate, uh — Max, Kate might like some — some ice tea with limo — lemon — lemon on the — on the terrace.
Max: I’m sure she’s fine.
Diane: Yes, I’m sure you’re sure that she’s fine. But it’s — it’s — there’s absolutely no time like the –
Sonny: Not right now. Not now, diane, please. It’s just — it’s –
Diane: I respectfully disagree, Sonny. This is — this is the perfect time.

Diane: You are — you really need to take a look at the contract, Sonny, because the exporter is trying to lay the taxes off on you. And that is not the agreement, as you explained it to me.
Sonny: Diane, if Kate can put off what she has to do until she gets to the office, I can do the same. There’s much more important things in life than work.
Diane: Absolutely. But the world did not stop turning while you were away, and there is much to catch up on.
Kate: Ok, well, clearly Diane is not going to go until you handle this. So, don’t mind me.
Sonny: No, no, no. You’re not going to go now, because that’s not right.
Kate: Well, actually, I think it’s just going to go a lot faster if I’m not here to distract you. Max, I would love that ice tea.
Diane: Oh, and Max will get it for you. Here you go.
Max: Yeah, I’ll bring it out.
Kate: Ok.

Kate: Thank you, Max.
Max: So you enjoyed the island?
Kate: I did.
Max: Yeah, sometimes when you’re down there with the tropical breezes blowing, and all your problems a million miles away, the real world can just seem like a dim memory.
Kate: That was very poetic and very true. That island — you know, Max, I don’t think i can remember taking a vacation and turning off my cell phone and my pda. I should really do that more often.
Max: So now you’re back in the real world.
Kate: Yeah, so much to do.
Max: And you and the boss are as in love as ever?
Kate: More.
Max: Have you really given Mrs. C. Enough thought? Oh –
[Chuckles nervously]
Max: Whoops, um —

Kate: Ok, first of all, Carly, she is now Mrs. J. — Not Mrs. C. Ok? And, secondly, you might want to just take this whole subject up with Sonny. Ok, Max, look, I am fond of you, and clearly you were worried. So let me just put your mind at ease, all right? Sonny and I took this holiday in part to put any kind of concerns on the table, and it is safe to say that this issue of Carly has been put to rest.
Max: Oh, that’s terrific. Really. You’re going to be the new Mrs. C. And no one will be the wiser. I — no one meaning everyone will live happily ever after. As much as that’s possible. I hope. It’s all good.
Kate: Ok, thank you, Max.
Sonny: Oh, don’t mind me. What’s going on here?
Kate: Max was just saying how happy he is for us.

Kate: You know, I’m actually feeling a little guilty about the way I kicked Clarice out, so I think I should go up to the office.
Diane: Kate, I’m sure you’re probably both very hungry after that long flight. Don’t we still have some leftover pasta in the fridge? Max has become quite the chef.
Kate: You know what, Diane? It’s ok. I really couldn’t. Thank you, though. It’s not going to be long.
Sonny: Ok, I’ll tell you what I’m going to do, all right? I want to pick you up in the speedboat, we’re going to come home across the harbor. You love that?
Kate: I love that.
Sonny: You love that?
Kate: Mm-hmm.
Sonny: All right. Bye.
Kate: Bye.

Kate: Well, actually all the planning I’ve done for the wedding is just falling into place. It’s as if the angels are looking down on me.
Clarice: Not that you’re superstitious.
Kate: No, I’m so excited that you’re coming to the wedding. Oh, I’m sure by the time it rolls around I’ll be a complete mess. No — why don’t you just talk to Clarice. She can make all the arrangements for the hotel. Ok, bye-bye. Sorry. There’s one more thing you have to do. You have to arrange a block of rooms for all the out-of-town guests, ok?
Clarice: I’ll do whatever you want, Kate.
Kate: So, I’m here, as promised. If you still needed to talk to me, I’m all yours.
Clarice: Kate, you know I love you.
Kate: Clarice? You are not quitting. You are not. Did Giselle offer you a raise?
Clarice: What? No, of course not. My loyalty is to you. And that’s why I have to say this.
Kate: Oh, Clarice, what — what’s wrong?
Clarice: I don’t want to see you hurt, ever. But I know you, and you’d rather know about something like this than be left in the dark.
Kate: Ok, um, like what?
Clarice: When you were on the island, I went to drop the portfolio for the museum shoot off at Sonny’s. Diane and Max didn’t realize i was there, and I heard them talking. Now, I promise you, I listened very carefully. I would never come to you unless I was absolutely certain.
Kate: About what, Clarice?
Clarice: Back in May, when Michael Corinthos was shot, Sonny and Carly had sex.
